AAC and Literacy Instruction, Penn State Univ. website

Work on literacy helps people improve their communication using alternative methods for communication or using speech.  Literacy instruction is essential for everyone.  This Penn State University site has many examples (including video) of success with reading, plus information on how the students learned to read and write.
